A Grand Experience Pt 2

Grand CanyonKolt and Dandy (my sons) and I were hiking the Grand Canyon. We successfully made it to the bottom. We had our break. We rested in the Colorado River. We enjoyed our lunch. Now it was time to begin the climb. It wasn’t too bad at the beginning. But when we came to the first water stop, it was broken. No water. Not good. Well, this presented a little problem, but nothing we couldn’t handle. So we sucked it up and continued on.

But as we continued the climb, the legs were getting increasingly tired. We would stop and rest when the thighs were burning. After the short breaks, we started saying over and over, “Well let’s go, it’s not coming to us.” Meaning the top isn’t going to come to us. If we are going to get out of this Canyon, we were going to have to climb it.

Over and over we said, “It’s not coming to us.”

I have discovered in life, marriage and ministry that most good things in life don’t come to me. I have to go after it.

If you want a better marriage, it’s not coming to you. You have to go after it.

If you want a better financial situation, it’s not coming to you. You have to go after it.

If you want a better spiritual relationship with God, you have to go after it.

If you want a business success, you have to go after it.

Since it’s not coming to you, tell yourself, “I’m going after it.” Keep telling yourself, “I’m going after it,” until you accomplish it. This is your word of the day. “I’m going after it.”

Tell yourself Philippians 4:13 “I can do all this through him (Jesus Christ) who gives me strength.” Because you can do all things through Christ.
