Fruit of the Spirit

How can I live out the fruit of the Spirit in my daily walk? How can I demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit today?

Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.”

Here’s what it looks like today.

Love- Choose to love today instead of being angry, bitter or unforgiving. Choose to love the way God would love.

Joy- There always seems to be a reason to be upset, mad or frustrated about what doesn’t go right. But today I choose joy. I am going to be joyful regardless of what comes my way.

Peace- I refuse to allow strife and confusion to rule my life. I will take a deep breath (maybe a two if needed) and choose to be at peace with myself, my God and my circumstances.

Patience- Here is the real test. But today on my way to work, I will be patient and not allow the crazy drivers on the road to get under my skin. When someone does not complete their task on time, I choose to be patient and handle it with grace and dignity.

Kindness- There is someone in my path today that will need some kindness and I will be the one to offer it. Whether it is a doorman, taxi driver, custodian, or CEO, I will be the kindest person they will meet all day. It’s so easy to be rude. But it takes work to be kind. Choose kindness today.

Goodness- I refuse to allow anything other that goodness to come out of my mouth. I will speak good of everyone. I will be good to everyone, I will be good to myself. I will not take credit for something I didn’t do. I will give the credit where it belongs.

Faithfulness- I will be faithful to my God. I will be faithful to my family and friends. I will be faithful to my job. No one will question my integrity today

Gentleness- Choose to be gentle with the people you come in contact with today. You have no idea the circumstances that they may be facing. Don’t raise your voice unless it is in praise to God.

Self-Control- Today I will not allow anything to have control over my body accept the Spirit of the Living God. I will surrender control only to God.

May the fruit of the Spirit be alive in you today!
