True Love is Sacrifice!

sacrificeToday’s word is sacrifice.

Recently, my oldest son Kolt, was watching a dinosaur movie with his two sons Kanon (4) and Maverick (2). In the movie the family of Dinosaurs were being threatened by a fire. The Daddy Dinosaur came back to save his family only to find that they were being attacked by T-Rex Dinosaurs. The Daddy Dinosaur fought and defended his family against the T-Rex’s and eventually he died in the effort.

Kolt’s oldest son, Kanon, (4), asked, ”What just happened?” Kolt explained to him that the Daddy Dinosaur had sacrificed his life, fighting to save his family. He further explained, that’s what Daddy’s are willing to do for their families.”

It was quiet for a few minutes, Then Kanon said, “Daddy, I have water.” Kolt looked for Kanon’s glass of water and said, “Here’s your water right here.” Kanon responded, “No, I have water in my eyes.” Kolt looked at Kanon and asked, “Do you mean that you are sad?” “Yes.” Kanon replied. This was the first time that Kanon had experienced this emotion of such sadness that brought tears to his eyes.

Kolt then explained, that when God gave His Son Jesus to die for us, He sacrificed His life in order that we might live. What a great teaching moment.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.”

When I hear this story of God’s love for us, it makes me sad, but it also makes me glad.

I want you to think about the sacrifices that God has made for you and me. Then realize that in order to have a solid relationship with those we love the most, oftentimes sacrifices are necessary.

What sacrifices are you willing to make to have a Better Life?
