Be Present Today!

be presentI can remember sitting in front of the television as my daughter climbed up in my lap and placed her little hands on my cheeks and turned my face toward hers. Now eye to eye and nose to nose, she said, “Daddy, listen to me.” She wanted my undivided attention and now she had it.

Present is the word of the day. Declare that you will be “present” in your life today. What am I talking about? How many times have you missed an important part of a conversation with someone sitting across the table from you, because you were on your phone? How many times have you not heard what someone said, because, you were distracted by the TV? How many times have you missed the beauty of a present moment, because you were too worried about the past or the future? The fact is we can be so consumed with yesterday or tomorrow or other things going on around us, that we overlook the wonderful gift that God has given you today, the “present.”

Three keys to being present.

  1. Don’t worry about yesterday. It’s over. You can’t go back and change it. Learn from it and make better choices today.
  2. Don’t worry about tomorrow. It’s not here yet. You can’t make it get here any sooner. You can’t slow time down and delay it. Make proper preparation for it.
  3. Make the most of today. There is a life to be lived today. There are dreams to fulfill today. There are people you will encounter only today. Once this moment is gone, you will never have this moment again. Make the most of it. Live it to the fullest.

John 10:10 …”I (Jesus) have come that you might have life…to the fullest.”

Yesterday is the tomb. Tomorrow is in the womb. All you have is today. It is a gift from God, That’s why it’s called the “Present.”
