I’ve got my mind made up!

resoluteWhen my daughter Summer was just a little girl, my mother, her Grandmother, asked her to do something and Summer answered, “No.” My mother then gently scolded her and told her, “When your Grandmother tells you to do something, you should never say, ‘No.’”

Summer became very quiet and then hesitantly, but respectively responded, with a quivering lip, “But I don’t know how else to say, ‘No.’”

We have often laughed about how resolute Summer was about whatever it was that her Grandmother had asked her to do. She wasn’t going to do it. She didn’t want to disrespect her Grandmother, but she didn’t know how else to tell her, “No.”

The word of the day is resolute. This simply means that you have made up your mind. There is no changing now.

If you want your marriage and life to be better, then you have to be resolute about a few things.

  • Be respectful at all times.

Respect for one another is a major foundational building block for any relationship.

  • Be loving at all times.

Love is not something you feel. Love is something you do. Show love every day.

  • Be forgiving at all times.

We all screw up. Learn to forgive and move on.

  • Be supportive at all times.

Everyone has dreams, goals and plans. Support one another’s dreams.

  • Be accepting at all times.

You won’t wake up one day and find that your spouse has magically become the person you dreamed of. Accept the fact that you married who you married, hopefully for better, not worse.

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Have a Better Day!
