Around the year 1700, the elderly father of the famous German philosopher, Immanuel Kant, was traveling through the forests of Poland. On his way, he encountered a band of robbers who demanded his valuables, finally asking, “Have you given all?” They only let him go when he replied, “Yes.” When safely out of sight his hand touched something hard in the hem of his robe. It was his gold. He had forgotten it in his fear and confusion. He hurried back and confessed to the robbers that he had not told them the truth. They did not take his gold, but gave it back to him along with his purse, his prayer book and then helped him on his mount. They asked his blessing as he rode away.
I can’t promise you that telling the truth will always turn out like that. Sometimes, it causes things to blow up in your face. But the truth is the truth and it never changes.
The word of the day is truth. It is important to always tell the truth.
The Bible says,
Ephesians 4:15 “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,”
By speaking the truth we grow up in Christ. We become more like Christ.
Another great benefit to telling the truth is, you don’t have to try and remember what you said. The truth is the truth and it doesn’t change.
Speak the truth over your life today and make your day better.
