‘Wait’ is the word of the day. Don’t you just hate waiting?
Recently my friend, Doug McAllister came in from out-of-town. After picking him up from the airport we drove to one of my favorite restaurants. I greeted the hostess, and put my name in for a table. She informed me that there would be a one hour wait. One hour! I was already famished! Okay, it wasn’t that drastic. The truth is I was way more impatient than I was hungry. I turned to Doug and told him it would be a one hour wait. He said, he had never waited an hour for a meal anywhere. That means he had never been out to dinner on a Friday or Saturday night in DFW. But I digress. Well, I didn’t want to be the one who allowed him to experience his first one hour wait for dinner. So we found another restaurant that could seat us immediately. We survived.
Why are we so impatient? Why do we hate waiting? Why is everyone in such a hurry?
In a culture that is so time conscious and obsessed with instant everything, we feel we are entitled to have what we want and have it now.
But why are we unwilling to wait for an hour to eat, but will wait overnight for a new Apple product?
Because at the end of the day, or at the end of the line, if whatever is at the end of the line is worth it to us, we’ll wait for it.
Why not spend a little time waiting on God today. I believe He has something to say to you.
Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
