I recently read where a company called, “Afterlife Telegrams” offers to deliver messages to the dead for a price of $10 a word (with a five-word minimum) by way of terminally ill patients who promise to deliver the messages upon “passing into the afterlife.”
In the fine print of the agreement, however, it warns customers that it cannot guarantee the message will get through. “The truth is,” Afterlife Telegrams solemnly warns, “no one knows what happens when someone dies.”
I think I’ll trust the words of Jesus who said…
John 14:2 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”
Maybe you have wondered why older people talk more about heaven than younger people do. I did. I wondered why, and then it dawned on me that the older we get, the more friends and family we have in heaven, than we do here on earth. We have a longing to be with them and with our Lord and Savior Jesus. We have a longing to be in heaven.
Like the little boy flying his kite and the kite was out of sight and someone asked him where it was and he pointed up to the sky. They asked him how he knew it was there if he couldn’t see it and he said, “I know it is there because I can feel it tug.”
We can know in a similar way that there is a Heaven, because we can feel the pull of it, the tug of it, in our souls.
The word of the day is heaven. Be heaven conscious today. That’s where we will spend eternity.
