In the Olympics, when the athletes stand up on the podium and receive their gold medals, they’ll often break down crying. They’re not crying over that moment of getting that medal around their neck. They‘re thinking about all the things they had to go through to get there.
They’re thinking about the blisters on their hands, the torn ligaments and the many times they couldn’t go out like the other kids because they were training.
They’re not thinking about the moment but the journey.
That’s what praise is like. You don’t just praise Him because you feel good right now. But real praise is when you remember what you came through. You made it!
Maybe other people don’t understand it. They’re thinking, “Why are you so emotional?”
You say, “Yeah, I’m a little emotional right now, because I didn’t know if I was going to make it, but Praise God I made it.”
They don’t understand that you are praising not just because of that moment, but you are thinking about everything that you had to go through to get here. Your heart was broken, your dreams were shattered, your hope was lost, but you made it and now you are giving God some gold medal praise because of the journey.
The word of the day is praise.
Psalm 150:6 “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.”
You ought to take a little time today and just Praise the Lord.
