Have you ever been so consumed, distracted and even disturbed by negative things that are happening all around you, that you can’t seem to see anything good?
Remember Paul and Silas?
They were locked up in jail for preaching the gospel. The Bible says, that at midnight, when things are the darkest, they began to sing. They found something to be thankful for. And God sent the earthquake that shook the prison doors open and the shackles fell from their feet. Why? Because they chose to focus on the stars not the bars. Their praises went right past the bars that held them captive and straight to the stars of heaven where Jesus sits exalted.
What are the bars that have you imprisoned? Quit focusing on them and focus on the One who can set you free. If you find something to be thankful for, you can push your way through the struggle you are facing today.
When you choose something positive over something negative. Your mind and your heart have to stop dwelling on the negative. It gives your mind and your heart a break. A rest. Choose something to be thankful for. Find a reason to praise. Turn your bad day into a good day, by choosing to praise the Lord.
The word of the day is, “choose to give thanks.”
Acts 16:24-25 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
