Friends are either wind in your sails, or a weight around your neck.
You need to determine if the people who are in your life are wind or weights.
Someone said, “Friends are like elevators, they either take you up or take you down.”
The word of the day is friend. If you want your life to be better, then you need to make sure that the people who are in your life are real friends. How do you know who real friends are? A real friend walks in when everyone else walks out.
I went through a season of failure in my life and that’s when I found out who my true friends were. As long as I had position, influence and something to offer, I had plenty of friends. It was surprising and disappointing to me, that as soon as all of that disappeared, so did my “friends.”
I’m not complaining. I’m just stating how it was or how it felt. I realize that some people just didn’t know how to respond, so they didn’t say anything at all. It’s just a lesson learned.
A friend once told me;
- Some friends you tolerate.
- Some friends celebrate.
- Some friends you need to eliminate.
Here’s my encouragement to you today,
- Know who your real friends are.
- Be true to the friends who are in your life.
- Show your friends that they matter. Celebrate them often.
- Don’t be afraid to disconnect from people who are weighing you down.
Your life matters too much.
Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
