Let it Go. This is the word of the day. Simply, let it go. I remember reading this illustration and could recall a few times when it happened with my own kids.
Imagine, a two to three year old little boy in a Play Place/Playscape (like McDonald’s) where the bottom pit is filled with plastic balls. The little boy grabs an arm full of balls and tries to carry them out. But the more he tries to walk in the ballpit, while holding onto an armful of plastic balls, he only sinks deeper into the pit. Crying and screaming for help, you, as the parent try to guide him out. The last thing you want to do is crawl in the pit yourself. You know how impossible it is to get out of there! So you tell your child, “just drop the balls and climb out.” But they don’t want to let go. So he sinks even further into the pit.
The solution is simple- “Let it go.” But he can’t grasp it. So what do you do as a caring parent? That’s right, call for an employee…. No. I’m just kidding. You climb in that ball pit and save that child. That’s what you do. Of course. Did you know that we do the same things to ourselves, spiritually? We sink ourselves deeper into our pit by refusing to “let it go.” Let go of bitterness. Let go of unforgiveness. Let go of pride and arrogance. Let go of despair and discouragement. Let go of worry and fear. Let go of anything that is weighing you down. The only way to climb out of the pit is to let it go and give it to Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” Let it go, it will make your day better.
