Starla and I love to hike. We have hiked in many different states, up many different trails and many different mountains. Most of the time we are hiking to a destination. It may be a scenic view of a canyon. The destination may be the summit of a mountain top. Or it may be an abandoned silver mine or an old western town. But the joy of the journey is not just in the arrival of the destination, but the joy is in what we experience along the way. The joy is in the journey.
Our life is like this. I think too many people miss out on the joy of living, or the joy of the journey, not understanding that God intends for your New life (in Christ) to embody abundant life as well as eternal life.
John 10:10 says, “I have come that you may have abundant life.” Or ”life to the full.”
Too many Christians only have their sights set on our eternal life in heaven, (the destination) which is a fantastic promise, don’t get me wrong. But in doing so, we miss out on the abundant life that God wants us to have, while on the journey.
The word of the day is, enjoy the journey.
Live life to the fullest. Enjoy the journey. God has prepared so much for you along the way.
