All is Calm!

Calm

How many could use a little calm in your life today?

I’m sure we can all relate to times when we were afraid, worried or stressed.

Christmas time is a very hectic time.

It’s not all “Peace on the Earth, good will toward men.”

People fight the crowds to travel in planes and on the highways to get to family.

Ladies fight the crowds at the stores on black Friday.

Men fight the crowds at the mall on Christmas Eve.

There are stories of fights that occur, people are robbed and stores are broken into.

This is all madness. It certainly doesn’t create a “calm” for the holidays at all.

You may be…

  • facing uncertainties in your life.
  • looking for a job, or looking for your next meal.
  • wondering if you can keep your sanity through these holidays.

These are all things that rob us of our “calm.”

Psalm 23:1-6 has been read to calm hearts at…

…bedsides in the hospital when people are struggling through sickness.

…gravesides when a loved one has passed.

…It was read by President Bush after 9-11 to calm the hearts of a wounded American nation.

It has offered comfort, peace, assurance, hope and the confidence that God is with us when we need Him most.

Psalm 23:1-6 (KJV) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

One child said it like this…

“The Lord is my shepherd and that’s all I need to know.”

That sounds good enough for me.

The word of the day is calm. Speak calm over your life today.
