Over the last seven days as you have taken the opportunity to express thanks to others for their contribution in your life, it has taken the focus off of you and on to others.
There is a common ego-centered, self-centered battle that every one of us are born with. It doesn’t matter what gender or race, each child is born with a self-centeredness, that has to be managed and matured or it will lead to a life of misery and destruction.
All children work through temper tantrums. Because when they want something, they want it, when they want it.
We all have children that challenge us in that way. In fact, we ourselves are exactly the same. We only express it differently.
When you are giving thanks, it takes the focus off of you.
Giving Thanks prevents self-centeredness.
Today’s Scriptures: Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.”
Paul explains a little more in this next verse.
Ephesians 5:4 “Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.”
Today’s Challenge: Write a thank you note to someone who showed you kindness. Perhaps someone who prayed with you during a difficult season, gave you a cash loan, loaned you their car, or extra bedroom for a while, bought your meal or gave you an unexpected gift.
Give thanks for this is the will of God.
