Recently, the teacher of my four year old grandson’s Wednesday Night class at church came to my wife, Starla and told her what my grandson Kanon, had said during class. She was taking time in the class that night to receive the offering. She told the children to get ready because they were getting ready to give their offering to Jesus. She collected their precious little offerings, then my grandson approached her and said, “I want to see you give it to Jesus.” She said, “What?” He continued, “You said, we were going to give our offering to Jesus, I want to see you give it to Him.”
You can imagine her surprise and shock with the innocence and the perception of this little guy who took it literally that they were going to give their offering to Jesus and he wanted to see it happen. Don’t you just love the innocence of children?
The fact is when we give to God through His church here on the earth, it is also received spiritually in heaven. This is what the next verse teaches us.
Hebrews 7:8 (KJV) and here men that die receive tithes; but there he (the type of Christ) receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.”
My entire point is this, what we do on earth makes a difference in heaven as well.
Philippians 4:17 Paul said, “Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.”
What account was Paul talking about? He was talking about their spiritual account in heaven. In the same way God is keeping track of every word that is spoken (Psalm 139:4) He is keeping track of every deed that is done.
Store up something good in your account in heaven today by doing something good for those you love the most today.
