Goodness is the word for the day. I want you to speak ‘Goodness’ over your life, family and marriage today.
Every day we are given opportunities to choose between others and ourselves. We have options.
- Do I take time for myself or give that time to someone else?
- Do I let the elevator door close or do I hold it for someone else?
- Do I hold the door at the restaurant for someone else or let it shut on the person behind me.
- Do I help someone with their work, project or assignment, when I know that helping them will delay what I need to do?
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
According to this scripture there is a fruit of the Spirit called “goodness.”
We know the difference between good and bad. But what is goodness and how do we walk it out in our daily lives? How do I work this out in my marriage and family?
This word goodness, in its original meaning, means, “to act unselfishly towards another.” So if it means to act unselfishly towards another, what could you do today that is unselfish towards someone else?
How many times a day do we do something that is selfish? Only thinking about ourselves, only thinking of me?
Why not try something different today? Plan three things that you do strictly for someone else. Write them down. Put a check by them when you complete the task. You’ll be glad you did.
Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
