As Hurricanes have ripped through the shores of our Texas coast and the Florida coast, we have seen the worst in mother nature, yet the best in human nature. We have seen people helping people, as Hurricane Relief efforts have crossed religious barriers, racial barriers, economic barriers and gender barriers. The word of the day is, “we need each other.”
The fact is, many living things need each other to survive. Colorado Aspens are a great example. They are found in clusters, or groves. In some groves, all of the trees may actually be connected by their roots. It is as if they are one tree.
The giant California Redwood tree is another great example. They may tower 300 feet into the sky. Some are big enough to drive an automobile through. It seems they would require an extremely deep root system to anchor them against strong winds. But instead their roots are actually shallow. They reach in all directions, connecting with roots of other redwoods. Locked together in this way, all the trees support each other in wind and storms.
Aspens and Redwoods never stand alone. They need one another to survive and we need one other to survive. We need others to hold us up, encourage us and to stand with us, through the storms of life. If you make sure you are there for others, God will make sure others are there for you.
Romans 12:5 (NLT) “Since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other and each of us needs all the others.”
