The secret of every winner – whether it’s winning at work, winning in sports, winning in relationships, winning with money or winning in your walk with God – the secret of every winner is, the ability to “bounce back.” I call it, “bounce back-ability.”
Everyone faces difficult times. We all fall and fail. Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
When I was a kid, I had a bounce back punching bag. No matter how many times I hit it, no matter how many times I knocked it down, it just kept on bouncing back.
Read the stories of great achievers, they will share times when they failed before they succeeded. Everyone gets knocked down.
But the difference between winners and losers is, “bounce back-ability.” The winner gets back up. The loser stays down.
I’ve heard people say, “I’ll never let anyone hurt me again!” So they close themselves off to future relationships. They may never be hurt by someone again, but they will never experience love again either.
The winner gets back up and takes a chance on love.
Winners have bounce back-ability. Winners get back up. Winners refuse to stay down. Winners don’t give up.
How can you develop “bounce back-ability?”
“Focus” is the way to get “bounce back-ability.”
You can handle an extraordinary amount of pain if your focus is right. If you believe that it has purpose. If you “see” or “focus” on a purpose. You could handle most anything, if you think it has a meaning and a purpose.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “For this reason we never become discouraged. Even though our physical being is gradually decaying, yet our spiritual being is renewed day after day. And these temporary troubles we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble. For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen, lasts forever.”
Paul focused his attention on an eternal target or purpose. He refused to get distracted or discouraged by the physical problems he was facing.
The same key will work for you. Focus on the greater purpose and refuse to get discouraged by the present problems that are surrounding you right now.
Establish a clear vision for where you are going in life and focus your attention on that. Realize these temporary set backs are only stepping stones to get you to your final destination of success. Refuse to allow them to become stumbling blocks for failure.
You are a winner. Now act, think and talk like one. Focus. Focus, Focus. Your future is so much greater than your past.
Refuse to look back, you’re not going that way.
The word of the day is bounce back-ability.
