Recently while attending a conference in California, Starla and I had the opportunity to go out one afternoon and hike a few trails. This is one of the things that we love to do together.
We made our way to a place called Indian Canyon. As we started out on the hike, it was dry, dusty and hot. Everything looked the same, rocks, sand and more rocks and sand. There was no shade and it was a becoming more work than fun.
Then all of a sudden we surged over the mountain ridge and came upon the most beautiful Palm Oasis I have ever seen. (Come to think of it, it’s the only Palm Oasis I have ever seen. But that should not take away from how beautiful it was.)
It was the world’s largest fan Palm Oasis. In the midst of the bone dry, oven hot, rocky terrain, sat the most beautiful and mysteriously magical Oasis.
The trail that we hiked led us back and forth across the clear rippling stream of water. The sound of the water and the shade of the Palms turned this tedious trek into a delightful day.
The word of the day is Oasis. I believe that God has an Oasis for you each day. It is a place in His presence that you can be refreshed from the “heat of the day.” It is a refuge from the storm. It is a place of healing, comfort and restoration.
Speak this word and find your Oasis today.
Exodus 15:27 “Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.”
