Have you ever seen a wounded animal, a pet dog perhaps, protect itself by biting anyone who comes near them, even when you are trying to help?
I remember being hurt by someone whom I trusted. I don’t think there are adequate words for the depth of pain I felt. I was hurt deeply and I found myself hurting others because I had been wounded.
Why do hurt people, hurt people? Because of their hurt and pain, ordinary words are often misinterpreted to mean something negative towards them. Because of this, they are overly sensitive and react out of pain instead of reality. Yes, hurt, people hurt, people. Controlled people, control people. Angry people, anger people.
But the good news is, and the word of the days is, healed people, heal people and loved people, love people.
You reproduce what you are. You reproduce what you have experienced in your own life.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
The best that you have to offer to others is what God has already done for you. Think about what He has done for you. Think about the times He has rescued you, delivered you, provided for you or just been there for you. Offer that same hope to others. If He did it for you, He can do it for others as well.
