Starla and I recently walked into a coffee shop in downtown Dallas. We ordered an almond milk cappuccino, lightly glazed with cinnamon and honey. (Starla’s creation) I added to that order, an oversized piece of Texas Pecan Pie, slightly warmed. (God’s creation) It was delicious! Anyway, I noticed a tattoo on the arm of the handsome young barista behind the counter. I asked him what his tattoo said. It read, “Death is only the beginning of everything I’m living for.” He said it was the first tattoo of many that he had.
As I read the tattoo, I wondered how many of us are living for something here on this earth instead of eternity with Christ? Are we making our jobs, our possessions, our money, and our friends, our main focus? Are we living to work? Are we living to be accepted? Are we living to build a career? Are we living to fulfill our dreams? Never forget, as sons and daughters of God, we are citizens of heaven. This earth is not our home. We are only passing through. Let the focus of our life be to Live for Jesus in everything we do.
The word of the day is Live for Jesus. He is all that really matters. Death is only the beginning of everything I’m living for. How about you? What are you living for? If it’s not Jesus, then you are living for the wrong thing.
Philippians 3:20-21 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
