It was my youngest daughter’s wedding day. I wanted to look my best. I dusted off my tuxedo. I made sure my shirt was pressed and looking its best. Then I pulled out my shoe shine kit and began shining my shoes. I don’t do this as much as I used to. I told Starla that shining my shoes always brings back memories of Saturday nights. Every Saturday night, while growing up in my house as a kid, was preparation night. It was a time when we studied our Sunday School lesson and shined our shoes. My parents always made sure that we were prepared for Sunday.
Preparation is the word of the day.
Are you prepared for today? Don’t enter into any day without preparing. Have a plan. Know what you want to accomplish. Write down your goals and stay focused on accomplishing those goals.
Are you prepared for the curve balls of life? Life never turns out exactly as we planned. Are you prepared to have to adjust and be flexible? Or does a change in plans ruin your entire day? If you accept the fact that adjustments will need to be made, you can at least be mentally prepared to handle the curve balls of life.
Are you prepared for eternity? Life is so short. We are only here for a little while. Have you made your plans for eternity? 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are passed away and all things have become new.”
Get “in Christ” today by inviting Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
