What could be more of a thrill than to walk through the Sistine Chapel and see first-hand, with my very own eyes the incredible masterpiece artistry of the one and only Michelangelo? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
It doesn’t get much better than that.
However, to hear my Dad tell it, all my brothers and I did were fight with each other the entire time we were visiting this historic site. I was only 13-14 years old. And my brothers were getting on my nerves. They deserved a punch or two.
My point is this, life is short and opportunities are rare. We need to make the most of every opportunity that we have or the moment will pass and we will be left with more regret than reward.
James 4:14 “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
The word of the day is seize. Seize the day. Seize the opportunity. Go after your dreams. Go after your better life. Don’t waste it fighting over silly things that won’t even matter tomorrow. Life is much too short for that.
Set aside your differences. Look at the bigger picture. You might be walking right past a masterpiece and not even see it because your eyes are filled with anger, spite, envy and unforgiveness. The better life comes when you put aside petty indifferences and seize the day.
