I had the privilege while growing up to stay with my grandparents on the farm, during each summer break. My grandfather had given us strict orders not to play on the spillway during the rain. (This was the overflow area from the pond after heavy rains) He did not want us to tear up the ground and wash away the sod. But it was also dangerous, we could get swept into the creek.
But there were fish and crawdads on that spillway. So we figured, it wasn’t really playing, it was fishing. So we were out there where we were not supposed to be. I remember looking back and seeing my grandfather watching us. He called us in and I saw the disappointment on his face, because we had let him down. We had disobeyed him. But he was watching us to protect us and in order to protect us he needed to correct us.
Hebrews 12:6 “Because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
There is no doubt that the correction I received was because of my grandfather’s love for me. There is no doubt that God’s love also includes correction from time to time.
The word of the day is correction. Allow God to show you areas of your life that need correcting. Accept his correction, it’s for your protection.
