1 Corinthians 10: 23-24 (ESV) “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.
Today’s word is others. The Bible teaches us that there are certain things that you can do that may not be sinful, but may not be helpful either. They may be lawful, but it isn’t going to build anyone up either.
Simply put, “It’s not all about you!”
Many people live with the attitude, “It’s my life, I can live the way I want to.” Or “It’s nobody’s business what I do.”
According to the world, that is true. But according to the Bible it is not true. We have a responsibility to others. What we do matters. How we live our lives can have an impact on others. So, God expects us to live in a way that builds up, encourages and draws people to Christ, not give them a reason to question Christianity or doubt our dedication to Christ.
Let’s live in a way that people will be convinced that Jesus can still change lives. Let’s give people a reason to believe that serving Christ is worth it. Let’s live our lives in a way that demands an explanation from others.
