Happy Birthday Starla. You complete me!
I have always been a very positive person. By personality I am Sanguine, carefree, a wing-it junkie. I am a big idea dreamer. I break out in hives just thinking about details. I think you get the picture. My wife Starla on the other hand is a planner, detailed and meticulous. She thinks about back-up plans, just in case plan A doesn’t work out. She would be more melancholy or phlegmatic. Together we make a great team.
The only problem is I didn’t recognize Starla as the gift that she is, early enough in our marriage. Instead of seeing our opposite personalities as a perfect match for a complete team, I saw her as a threat to my ideas and plans. I interpreted her planning as only wanting to slow down my momentum and keep me from succeeding. I always wanted to just go for it and let’s get things done. She wanted to plan, to ensure that we succeeded.
In reality there is a balance between the two. She needs me to push her to pull the trigger on certain things. I need her to help me not pull the trigger too early, in order to make sure our plans are successful.
In the same way that we complete each other in our marriage, we need Jesus in our lives to complete us.
Colossians 2:10 (NLT) says, “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”
With Christ in our lives we can live complete, full and abundant lives. Without him we will be empty and incomplete.
The word of the day is complete. Speak this over your life and marriage today.
I love you Starla and I pray that your day is blessed. Mine is blessed because you are in it.
